From the desk of Bunyan House President, Addison Norris
A new year. A new semester. New challenges.
The return from Christmas break has been a sharp jolt for many — but a welcome routine for some. The rhythm of academia waits for no one, and attempting to ease back into its cadence is no small feat. As president, I’ve had the privilege to witness the resilience of PPA students firsthand. We are tired, yes. And the pull to let ourselves slip beneath the surface and do the bare minimum is strong. But stronger still is the PPA spirit. We persevere.
These first two Mondays of January, House Culture time has been a stage for learning, reflection, and competition. On the first Monday, we explored the art of resolving conflict with Scripture as our guide. On the next, we turned our attention to the power of health: the impact of sleep and the foods we choose to fuel our bodies.
Afterward, the Houses faced off in a battle of wit and strength. We competed in an intense relay race that consisted of both physical and mental challenges. It was a close fight, but Bunyan emerged victorious!
We were not on campus on MLK day, but that left students with an opportunity to earn House points from home by doing additional reading and completing other pin requirements.
As we move into the heart of the semester, it’s time to press the pedal to the metal and to pour every ounce of effort into our work.
