Daniel Macsay has become the new President of the House of Augustine. But who is Daniel, what are his hobbies, and how long has he been at the school? Because his dad was in the military, Daniel spent most of his younger years moving from place to place. Eventually, his family settled in Wilmington, where he began attending PPA. Having been at the school since the third grade, Daniel has learned a lot. Providence helped him build a good work ethic, perseverance, critical thinking, and a strong Christian worldview. The school has also provided him the opportunity to build new friendships. Now in eleventh grade, and the new President of the House of Augustine. He is excited to participate in the many activities with the other house members, and he hopes to lead the house to victory this year. Outside of school, Daniel likes to spend his time on a number of different hobbies. He enjoys skateboarding, drawing, listening to music, and playing the guitar. Daniel is thankful for PPA, and he hopes to learn much more while there.

Addison Norris, President of the House of Bunyan, hasn’t always been as excited as she is now to tackle a leadership opportunity. Addy lived in Ocean Isle Beach until she was four, when she moved permanently to Wilmington. But over the next several years, she moved around a lot in the Wilmington area, experiencing a number of different schools, classroom structures, and living situations. She eventually landed at PPA in her sixth-grade year where she has remained! Addy didn’t start out as the outgoing leader she is; instead, she was a known introvert among her peers. But as she became more involved at PPA, her self-conscious attitude began to change, and she became much more outgoing. The opportunities and coaching she received at PPA were much different than she received elsewhere, and the school improved her thinking, speaking, leadership, and communication skills tremendously. Her improved confidence and skills led Addison to take on roles she never thought she’d take on before: such as becoming a Student Leader at her youth group, leading games and announcements in large public settings, teaching Sunday School for preschool and elementary kids, and even delivering messages from stage for campers on a mission trip! And because of the school’s flexible schedule, Addy has been given more freedom to become involved outside of school… which has opened her to even more opportunities to grow and learn. She runs track, plays guitar and keys, loves to get creative with paints and pencils, and enjoys reading in her free time. With a grateful heart, she is geared up and ready to crush the competition with her fellow house members! Addy can’t wait to see all the wonderful things that PPA has to offer this year!

Johnston Elimelek Smith, “Eli”, is the appointed president of the returning champion house of Lewis for the 2024-2025 school year. He is in tenth grade and enjoys reading biographies and fantasy, playing video games, and eating any and every food available for consumption with the rare exceptions of sushi, olives and asparagus. This is his 11th year at Providence as he began as a kindergartener. His favorite parts of school are economics, lunch, and history. He hopes to attend college and major in political science while minoring in economics and journalism. Graduation from college is seven years away and he is of the opinion that most adults have no idea where they are going to be in seven years. For the house system this year he would like everyone to give their best and for Lewis House to win (he mostly wants to win). May the best house take “the Cup”!

Nathan Grogan is a junior at Providence Preparatory Academy and is president of the Spurgeon House 2024-25. Nathan has a married half-brother named Josh who lives in Raleigh, a foster brother named Wesley, and a dog named Rosie. When he was four, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer and now has only one kidney. He likes rolling dice for hours and is a math nerd. Nathan does archery at PPA and used to do chess club. Nathan is doing college classes again this year to earn his associate’s degree. He wants to go to college and lead a family someday. He is very confident that Spurgeon will win. He wants to encourage everyone to give their best effort and to participate and contribute. Nathan also wants to build community within the house. He thinks Spurgeon either matches or exceeds the other houses in every aspect and is definitely the best one to lead. He is very grateful that he is president of Spurgeon this year and will do his best to lead the team to victory.
