From the desk of Augustine House President, Daniel Macsay
Here’s a quick recap of the house activities that have happened this past month. At the start of the month, each of the houses made plans for what their scarecrow would be; in preparation for the fall festival. Everyone also learned how to do the Virginia Reel, a folk dance that is very lively and proved to be popular among the students. Last week for House Culture, all the houses participated in the nature walk, which was essentially a scavenger hunt in the woods; afterwards everyone had the opportunity to walk to Starbucks and enjoy some sweet treats. On Thursday was the fall festival, which was a very exciting time for everyone involved. The houses were all able to compete in a scarecrow competition, as well as perform the Virginia Reel. Though Augustine did not win either of the competitions, it still proved to be a fun time for everyone. This most recent Monday activity was about working on cars. While not a competition, it was interesting nonetheless; and everyone learned about the basics of taking care of a car. It has been great to watch the house of Augustine have fun and bond over the many activities and competitions held throughout the year.
